Elizabeth Bauer, or Lissa, as she prefers to be called, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and staff endocrinologist at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego (NMCSD), where she also serves as Division Head for the Endocrinology and Rheumatology clinic. Dr. Bauer is dedicated to diabetes care and education, delivering over 20 lectures annually on diabetes management, metabolic disorders, and obesity. She coordinates subspecialty education in endocrinology and serves as the diabetes lead for her hospital, where she is currently spearheading initiatives to improve inpatient diabetes management and education.
She has been an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE), first serving as a fellow in training (FIT) on the board of directors and later serving on numerous committees, including Fellows Education, Nominating, and CME subcommittees. She currently serves as Chair of the Obesity Disease State Network for AACE. Dr. Bauer’s outstanding contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the AACE Rising Star of Endocrinology Award in 2024.
